PAWS for Reading
Studies have shown that children's reading skills improve when they read aloud to animals. The "PAWS for Reading" program gives children an opportunity to read aloud to trained, certified therapy dogs who "listen" as the children read. Children will sign up for a private 15 minute session with a dog and the dog's owner. This program will be held on Thursday afternoons in June and July. Online pre-registration is needed for each date that a child wishes to participate. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your session so that your child has time to sign-in, select books, and receive instructions. If you do not arrive 10 minutes prior, your time may be given away to a child waiting in standby to ensure that each therapy team has a child. Please only register for one session per day. For children entering grades 1-5. Registration will open two weeks before the date of the program. See the PAWS for Reading flyer for more information.
